How the estimate works

We size each room the way we do at a survey: floor area, what the room is used for, and how much sun it gets. Then we choose the smallest unit in your chosen system that comfortably covers it. Oversized units cost more to buy and short-cycle, so they're less comfortable, not more.

The lower figure is a standard one-day install with up to 5 metres of pipework per room. The higher figure allows for longer pipe runs and trickier installs. The fixed price comes after a free survey, once we've seen your walls, your electrics and where the outdoor unit can go.

Each extra room on the same visit costs less than the first, because travel, set-up and the visit itself are shared.

Running costs use each unit's seasonal efficiency (SEER for cooling, SCOP for heating) and today's electricity price for your area. Add your postcode and we look up the Flexible Octopus price for your region with Octopus Energy, which tracks the Ofgem price cap, so it's close to what most standard tariffs charge. Without a postcode we use Flexible Octopus prices for East Midlands: electricity at 25.4p and gas at 7.8p per kWh, checked daily with Octopus Energy. Real costs depend on your tariff, the weather and how warm or cool you like it.

Prices include supply and installation and VAT at the rate that applies on the day (0% on energy-saving installations until 31 March 2027, then 5%). Survey visits are within 5 working days.
